Spring and Fall Ultra Marathons on Chicago's Lakefront

We have always tried to put on a “pure” ultra.  There is no relay, no diaper dash, few frills and no whiners allowed.  We try to provide a well organized race with great volunteers and a venue to allow you to reach your goals; whatever they may be.

These are just some of the emails we received after the Chicago Lakefront 50/50 on 10/29/11.  Thank you very much!

It was a wonderful race and perfect weather for it. The rice and beans were delish!

Hi - I just wanted to say thanks for organizing such a good race today. I was very impressed with the setup for such a small field and the aid stations and volunteers did a fantastic job as well as really supporting the runners.

I can only imagine how much work and planning goes into an event like that, so you can be proud of the way you provided us Chicago runners with a well organized and good value ultra.

I'm happy my first ultra was your 50k, and it's certainly one I can see myself running again (especially knowing the red rice and beans await!) Who knows, maybe I'll work myself up to that 50 miler one of these days!
Thanks again so much for a great race.  Every now and then I have an idea of how I might have done something differently if I were the RD, but not yesterday.  I like the move “across the street.”  Seems to be a little more room over there, and the four trips under LSD are sort of like a mini “rim-to-rim” through the Grand Canyon.  Keeps us on our toes just when we have started to think the earth was flat (chuckle).  Two great aid stations are just right, I think, and I wish I could thank all of the people that worked them.  They were not only nice and generous, but on their toes as well.  Twice I came in there with the intention of borrowing a jug of water and filling my hand-held, but that puppy was whisked out of my hand, filled, and put back in my hand almost before I could say “Thanks.”  Wow!!
Thank you so much..we appreciate was a great day and the rice and bean was incredible.
First of all I would like to congratulate you on a well run race Saturday.  The volunteers at the aid stations and finish line area were awesome.  The race was very well organized, and the views on the trail of the city were great.
Thanks to you and your whole team for a fabulous Ultra.  You've created a great venue and all the runners are fortunate to be so blessed by your incredible crew.
Thank you so much for such a great event.  I had a great time and will definitely be back next year.  What a value, and what a great course!
Thank you so much for the fabulous race! Please thank your wife for the yummy red beans and rice. It was a great day! All the volunteers were wonderful.
Thanks for a great race!!
Thanks for all your hard work.  Great event – well done.
Thank you.  It was a great race and one good experience for me.
I just wanted to say thank you for putting on such a great race.  This was my first foray into the ultra distance and it was overwhelmingly positive.
Thanks so much for a great race!  It was my first ultra and definitely not my last.
Very nice event-kudos !
Thanks for a terrific race Saturday...I had a great time.
Thanks for putting on such a great race. I'm originally from Chicago but live in Asheville, NC. It was fun to come up to see family and run your race. Thank you.

My first ever ultra and it was awesome!  =)

…another stellar event. And this time the Red beans and rice was hot!

…thanks for setting up this absolutely awesome race! My first of many ultras to come and this race couldn't have gone more perfect!

It was a great race and everything was perfect!!!!!
…great event!  i was originally going to sign up for monster dash and then saw yours so just went for an ultra on a whim.  loved the intimate/low key, smaller event, easy parking, etc.  i think people that run a lot of races (i am sure i run a lot less than the true ultra people) but even with my calendar, i like smaller, low key events..  you did a great job.. will be back!

Thanks again, It was a great run and will do it again in spring.

Nice job on the race! I signed up last minute and I'm really glad I ran.

…just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed running this race. It was my first Ultra and thought that is was really well organized throughout.  Look forward to running it again!

I really wanted to say thank you so much for putting on such a great race! I've done plenty of other races and the 50/50 was by far the most enjoyable. The volunteers were some of the best I have ever experienced. This was truly one of the best races I have ever done and I will recommend it to everyone I know who is crazy enough to do it. Thank you so much for putting it on. Seriously, great job and thank you!  I'll be doing it again next year for sure!
Thank you for all your hard work!

Thanks so much for a fun and well organized race!  I really appreciated the smiling volunteers & peanut m&m’s at the water stops – both of which kept me moving along!   I look forward to next year!

This was my first 50 miler, and I had a great day! I do want to thank you and all the others for organizing such a great event. Everyone was SO positive and uplifting thru all 50 miles. The aid stations were awesome...Coke and peanut M and M's...doesn't get much better than that!! :)

…as I mentioned to you after the race I had a great time (this was my fourth fall 50K and was happy that it was my second one under 7 hrs.) I have always had a great time at the race and agree that the organization and volunteers are awesome. I usually hibernate all winter and barely run but seeing the pictures of the Spring 50K I am really motivated to run this winter with a goal of running the 50K next Spring. Thanks again for organizing a great race, and as you say, a celebration of life.
It was indeed a great race - thanks to you and everyone who helped out and participated.  My brother and I did it for the first time and we will be back for sure.  He is new to long distance running and did the marathon earlier in the month but this race showed the true spirit of the quirky bunch that loves to run all day long.  I'm glad he got to be a part of it - he is hooked!
Thanks for such a great event - it was my 1st 50 mile race, and I loved it. Very well organized, the volunteers and runners were fantastic, and the aid station snacks were great (I found the peanut M&Ms to be my favorite of course).
Thank you so much for a fabulous, first 50K! You, your crew & volunteers were awesome:)  I'm already contemplating the 50 miler in 2012! You guys ROCK. I appreciate everything & it felt great to run on Chicago soil again.
Thank you for a memorable celebration of health, scenery, great volunteers, great race directors and the best red beans and rice on the planet.  What a memorable day. Thank you!

Thanks for organizing a wonderful experience!

Thank you for a great experience and organization during my first ultra.
