Returning for Spring 2024 Too early in the year for an Ultramarathon? No problem, because in spring we offer additional distances of a Half Marathon, and a 20.7-Mile Buildup Run. These two event distances provide an opportunity for all runners to build up early-season endurance, take in the lakefront scenery, and bask in the ultra-excitement of Chicago Lakefront Ultras!
Locations For a variety in racing experiences, Chicago Lakefront Ultras maintains two racecourse locations.
Northside Location - Foster Avenue Beach.
Start/Finish Area is near the Foster Avenue Beach House, on the east side of Lake Shore Drive:

Spring Start Time 50 Kilometer: 8:30 AM (9-hour time limit)
Half Marathon: 9:00 AM
20.7-Mile Buildup Run: 9:00 AM
Fall Start Times 50 Mile: 7:00 AM (11-hour time limit)
50 Kilometer: 8:00 AM (9-hour time limit)
Early Start Option Early starts may be available to any ultra runner who submits a request by Wednesday, three days prior to race day, however early starters might not qualify for podium awards (overall or age group).
If you would like to start early, please contact Jeff Fleitz or Bill Thom at info@chicagoultra.org and let us know of your intentions.
Please remember that early starters or those that finish after the race time limit will be recognized as finishers in the results but may not qualify for overall nor age group awards.
Recognition for Individual and Course Record Performances If you are planning to set a record at this Event that you want to be recognized by USATF, you must contact us as early as possible before registering for the Event to inform us of your intentions, and to discuss the USATF's requirements for recognition of your achievement.
Awards
  • Special Recognition Awards to Top Overall Female and Male.
  • Belt Buckles for 50-Mile Finishers.
  • Medals for 50-Km Finishers.
  • Age Group Awards in 10-Year Divisions for Female and Male.
Quality Tech Shirt For all registered participants.
Aid Stations
  • Details pending and may change under circumstances of the languishing COVID-19 pandemic.
  • The start/finish turnaround location may be the only manned aid station and will be stocked with water, Tailwind, Coke, Mountain Dew, and a variety of food items.
  • There will be a drop bag area at the start/finish location for runners to access their own hydration, nutrition, and clothing needs.
  • Runners are strongly encouraged to carry their own bottles or hydration vest in order to complete each out and back loop self-sustained.
  • Details for how the aid stations will be set up to ensure safe and healthy measures are maintained will be emailed to participants closer to the race date.
